  1. I think rules in real life apply also to the internet. If you’re not comfortable with your child “hanging out” with a teacher outside of school, then students should not have contact with teachers online, in their personal internet lives. If there’s a school website with student and teacher profiles for the sole purpose of discussing schoolwork, posting grades, etc. and it can be monitored, that’s fine. Teachers and students should not have personal relationships. Even mentoring or friendships must be on a professional basis.
